The Shimmer Phono Cable

  • Our phono cable is made of dual twisted pairs of our 20 gauge single core 99.99% pure silver that has undergone our proprietary treatment method to maximize its AC transient handling ability. The cores are placed by hand in oversized teflon sleeves to eliminate dielectric distortions. The ground wire runs through the active shield to give our phono cable the lowest electrical noise floor of any cable we’ve seen on the market.

  • The twisted pairs for the right and left channels are placed in their own shields and then set in several layers of our polyurethane foam dielectric which has a dielectric constant of 1.08. The outer shield is made of four shields hand-soldered together. The ground pin on the tonearm din connector is soldered to the shield through silver wire, runs through the shield, and connects to the ground lug on your phono preamp with another silver wire, actively grounding the entire tonearm and cable.

  • The combination of monocore silver and polyurethane foam creates a soft, pliable cable with an almost nonexistent bend radius. The cable flows in the hand. The conductor and the dielectric both stretch to a significant degree, making the solder joint the only potential failure point. Which is why we set the solder joints in epoxy, which has no discernable effect on the sound and makes the cable virtually indestructible, giving you peace of mind that you’ll never have to use the lifetime warranty the cable comes with.

  • Standard pricing is as follows:

    $8,000 for a 4.5 foot cable

$9,500 for a six foot cable

$11,000 for an eight foot cable

Length and color are nearly infinitely customizable at no additional cost.
